OK in full disclosure, I love Cathy Kelly, she has been my favorite author since I spontaneously bought "Just Between Us" off of a buy one, get one free sale at an old book store-I couldn't find anything else that interested me. This book though, well, I struggled at the beginning. We are introduced to SO many people, by chapter 3 I had no clue who was our 3 women and who was friends. We met friends, relatives, coworkers, random people. And I was overwhelmed and frustrated. I put it aside and gave up on it. Then after reading something else, I decided hey, I paid for this book, I'm going to get through it. So I started over, this time, I wrote down who was who. Game changer!! Once I had that handy and could keep everyone straight, this book was unputdownable. There was twists and turns I did not expect. We have Bea (widow, hasn't dated in 10 years and has one son) Sid (had a bad breakup, hasn't dated in years, is now "just friends" with Finn) and Marin (married to Nate, a compulsive shopper, obsessed with fixing everything for everyone even though her own life is a disaster. All three of these women are completely different, but intertwined via a friends network. They all 3 have completely different stories to tell. I don't want to give anything away, but this is a great book IF you can stick it out past chapter 3. Just focus on the 3 main characters and you'll be fine. For me, it has continued the streak of loving what Cathy Kelly writes. I love all of cathy’s books. I have read them all. I’m always waiting keenly for the latest to be published. Thank you Cathy.
